About Dr. Park

"After training at Parkland in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Park spent a year as a cardio-thoracic anesthesia fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. In the ensuing years as an instructor, Dr. Park was involved in cardio-thoracic services at Barnes Hospital. This included advanced adult cardiac surgery, heart, heart-lung and lung transplantation, artificial heart and ventricular assist devices.

Returning to his home state of Wisconsin, Dr. Park joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin as an assistant professor. He was awarded "Teacher of the Year" his first year and became Chief of Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesia. He left in 1992 for private practice with a deep respect for the quality of care and teaching available at the UW.

Private practice at a community hospital with advanced surgical services and busy cardiac program allowed application of seven years of academic experience. Serving on numerous committees, being chief of a twenty man department and eventually assuming responsibility for quality initiatives in the department occupied his efforts.

During the sixteen years in private practice, Dr. Park focused on electronic tools to better document the quality care provided. This included developing handheld software programs to manage his busy anesthetic practice and a revolutionary anesthetic record to facilitate intraoperative documentation of quality. Much of the software focused on medical coding, the standard by which the government judges physicians and the foundation of reimbursement.

This work on software coding tools lead to the development of an advanced compact "CodeBook" that facilitates coding, compliance and improves compensation.

Readily seeking feedback from providers using these tools, Dr. Park continues to update, improve, develop and refine these tools."
